Statement from the Mayor: tragedy at the Lapu Lapu Filipino Festival

I am deeply saddened and disturbed by the tragic events that unfolded at the Lapu Lapu Filipino Festival in Vancouver last night. My sincere condolences go out to the families and individuals impacted by this shocking incident, which has claimed lives and injured others.

This festival was intended to be a vibrant celebration of culture, community, and togetherness, making it all the more heartbreaking that such an idyllic occasion has been marred by tragedy.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those injured or lost, and the entire Filipino community during this difficult time.
