A space to create, learn & connect

The purpose of Totest Aleng is to support Indigenous cultural practices. The studio doors are often closed while Indigenous artists create and gather. We offer learning opportunities to the general public on specific dates through open houses, workshops, events and school programs.

What does Totest Aleng mean?

The name Totest Aleng was generously gifted by Semiahmoo First Nation. It is a SENĆOŦEN name that roughly translates to learning house and references the many opportunities for learning and growth that take place here.

Photography at the pavilion

Community consultation

Local nations were involved in the development of Totest Aleng and continue to be consulted regularly. All programs are delivered by local Indigenous cultural practitioners.

Program and workshop costs

Registered programs have a cost, which reflects the knowledge and time of the facilitator. Free drop-in programs are also available during seasonal events and summer open houses.

"I am thrilled that we have been able to collaborate with the City to create this incredible new space. It provides a much-needed space to support cultural practices, learning and dialogue in a meaningful way.”
